Job Description

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our manufacturing team. This role does not require a four-year degree, but hands-on experience in manufacturing and PLC programming is essential. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems to optimize manufacturing processes and improve efficiency. 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC-based control systems.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to support and improve manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze system requirements and develop control strategies for new and existing equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for control system failures.
  • Modify existing control programs to improve reliability, performance, and safety.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of control systems and modifications.

Job Requirements

  • Strong experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Hands-on expertise with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Technical certifications or coursework in automation, controls, or a related field is a plus but not required.

 Preferred skills:

  • Experience with HMI development.
  • Familiarity with VFDs, sensors, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.).
  • Knowledge of safety systems and machine guarding controls.
