Job Description

The Controls Engineer is a critical role within the manufacturing environment, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems that ensure the efficient operation of machinery and processes. This role requires a deep understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and related technologies to optimize production, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing machinery and equipment, ensuring seamless integration of hardware and software components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and production teams, to understand system requirements and develop effective control strategies.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs to automate processes, monitor performance, and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Develop Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems that provide user-friendly interfaces for operators to monitor and control machinery.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction through control system enhancements.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and updates of control systems to prevent downtime and ensure accurate functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues in a timely manner to minimize production disruptions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in control systems technology, and recommend relevant upgrades or modifications.
  • Document control system designs, programming logic, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
  • Participate in project planning, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.

Job Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in controls engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong expertise in PLC programming and troubleshooting is essential.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus.
  • Knowledge of control system hardware, sensors, actuators, and motor controls.
  • Proficiency in HMI development and visualization software.
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel design.
  • Problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a production setting.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information effectively
