Position Title: Director of Operations 

Position Summary: 

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Operations. This role is vital in ensuring the overall success and efficient functioning of our large food manufacturing company, which operates over 40 plants across the United States. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of various key areas, including finance, operations, strategy, and community relations. As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the plant operations, driving profitability, implementing pricing strategies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and maintaining positive community relations.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Full P&L Responsibility: Take complete ownership of the profit and loss statement for the plants, proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to achieve financial targets. 
  1. S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning): Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop an effective S&OP process, enabling accurate forecasting, demand planning, and production scheduling to maximize customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. 
  1. Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, supply chain, quality control, maintenance, and safety, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices. 
  1. Pricing Strategies: Develop and implement pricing strategies that optimize profitability while remaining competitive in the market, considering factors such as raw material costs, market demand, and customer preferences. 
  1. Lean/Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, implementing lean methodologies and driving operational efficiencies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and increase overall plant performance. 
  1. Community Relations: Engage with local communities by establishing and maintaining positive relationships, promoting corporate social responsibility initiatives, and ensuring compliance with environmental and sustainability regulations. 
  1. Strategy Development: Contribute to the formulation and execution of the overall business strategy, providing valuable insights and recommendations based on market trends, customer demands, and competitive analysis. 
  1. Culture Development: Play a key role in shaping and fostering a positive work culture, incorporating company values, promoting teamwork, and encouraging employee engagement and development.

Job Requirements

 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). 
  1. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry or a related field. 
  1. Demonstrated experience in full P&L ownership, successfully achieving financial targets, and driving profitability. 
  1. Proven track record in leading and implementing S&OP processes, demand planning, and production scheduling. 
  1. Strong background in operations management, including production, supply chain, quality control, maintenance, and safety. 
  1. Solid understanding of pricing strategies, market dynamics, and customer segmentation. 
  1. Extensive knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing methodologies, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. 
  1. Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop teams. 
  1. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with strong business acumen.
