Maintenance Planner
Job Description
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Maintenance Planner to support maintenance planning, purchasing, and inventory management within a high-volume production environment. This role is responsible for coordinating maintenance work orders, managing maintenance materials and spare parts, and assisting with plant projects to help ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency. The Maintenance Planner works closely with maintenance, production, purchasing, and external contractors to support both planned and emergency maintenance activities.
- Support daily maintenance operations and capital projects to help maintain production schedules and optimize plant performance.
- Develop, maintain, and update preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
- Manage the onsite maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) inventory, including stock levels, organization, and replenishment.
- Coordinate procurement of maintenance parts, supplies, and project-related materials.
- Review supplier options and evaluate parts based on cost, quality, availability, and lead times.
- Create, prioritize, and schedule maintenance work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assess the planning requirements for routine and large-scale maintenance activities.
- Determine labor requirements and assist in establishing maintenance work schedules.
- Identify special tools and equipment needed for maintenance jobs and coordinate their availability.
- Establish spare parts requirements based on equipment criticality, lead times, and inventory costs.
- Maintain accurate bills of materials, including part numbers, vendor data, and item descriptions.
- Administer work order backlogs and provide ongoing status updates to maintenance leadership.
- Recommend and implement improvements to maintenance planning and inventory control systems.
- Coordinate activities with suppliers, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and internal departments.
- Partner with production, engineering, and other functional teams to resolve recurring equipment issues and support new processes and projects.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, reliability, or a related technical role.
- Experience supporting high-speed manufacturing, packaging, or processing equipment is strongly preferred.
- Professional certifications may be required or obtained during employment.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience using CMMS or similar maintenance management systems.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, work order management, and spare parts control.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment and maintenance practices in a manufacturing environment.
