Maintenance Superintendent
Job Description
A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to lead maintenance operations at a large-scale production facility in the Pacific Northwest. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing maintenance personnel, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring all facility systems operate safely and efficiently in support of production goals. Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership
- Lead and direct maintenance personnel on the second shift, either through front-line supervisors or through direct oversight.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and prioritizing maintenance activities, including assigning work methods and procedures.
- Establish and enforce maintenance policies, repair standards, and departmental best practices.
- Review completed work orders and monitor performance to ensure timely, high-quality maintenance execution.
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve a preventive maintenance program using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Analyze equipment downtime and maintenance history to identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Recommend repair, modification, or replacement strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce operating costs.
- Support predictive maintenance and equipment lifecycle management initiatives.
Engineering & Project Support
- Assist with facility and equipment planning for new installations and process improvements.
- Develop equipment layouts and support modifications to existing production systems.
- Prepare cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Coordinate repair and maintenance of building systems, mechanical assets, and structural components.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure maintenance practices comply with applicable food safety regulations, quality standards, and internal procedures.
- Communicate proper maintenance protocols to supervisors and technicians and verify compliance.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred, not required.
- Equivalent industrial maintenance experience will also be considered.
- 3–5 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supervising maintenance teams in a high-volume production setting.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) platforms.
- Familiarity with facility layout, drafting, project management, and ergonomic design.
- Ability to analyze maintenance data and develop practical reliability improvements.
