Maintenance Supervisor
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead evening maintenance operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for supervising maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. The Maintenance Supervisor will provide leadership, technical guidance, and employee development while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and minimizing equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule, and assign daily maintenance activities and work orders to maintenance personnel.
- Provide leadership during shift handoffs and ensure effective communication of outstanding maintenance issues.
- Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies, regulatory compliance, and safe maintenance practices.
- Support and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and planned maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and asset life.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as SAP or similar platforms, to plan work, track maintenance activities, and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate maintenance activities during production, scheduled downtime, sanitation windows, and plant shutdowns to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure preventive maintenance work orders are completed on schedule and assist with troubleshooting equipment failures as needed.
- Serve as the primary maintenance contact during the assigned shift, responding to emergency equipment breakdowns and production support needs.
- Oversee repairs and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and facility systems.
- Participate in root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring equipment failures.
- Support capital improvement projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.
- Partner with inventory and purchasing teams to maintain appropriate spare parts inventory.
- Develop, update, and implement maintenance procedures, standard work instructions, and best practices.
- Train, mentor, and develop maintenance employees on equipment, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work practices.
- Complete supervisory responsibilities including timekeeping, performance evaluations, coaching, employee development, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to support operational goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, quality, sanitation, GMP, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and maintenance experience will be considered.
- 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience with demonstrated leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing, food processing, dairy, beverage, consumer products, or similar industrial environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Experience using CMMS software (SAP, Maximo, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and facility systems.
- Experience supporting equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.
- Technical certifications in electrical, welding, boiler, refrigeration, wastewater, compressed air, or plumbing are a plus.
