Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join our team with a focus on utility systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles and practical experience or interest in systems such as ammonia refrigeration, steam/boiler systems, and process safety management (PSM). This role will support and manage capital and maintenance projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and manage utility-related capital and improvement projects, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and commissioning.
- Provide technical support and expertise for utility systems including, but not limited to, ammonia refrigeration, boilers/steam systems, compressed air, chilled water, and other facility utilities.
- Ensure all projects comply with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including maintenance, operations, safety, and environmental departments.
- Develop technical documentation such as P&IDs, equipment specifications, and standard operating procedures.
- Lead contractor coordination and manage vendor relationships during project implementation.
- Monitor and ensure project performance, safety compliance, and quality standards are met.
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and reliability improvements in utility systems.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline) – Required
- 8+ years of relevant experience in industrial, food & beverage, or manufacturing environments – preferred
- Working knowledge of utility systems, especially ammonia refrigeration, boilers/steam, HVAC, and compressed air systems
- Familiarity with OSHA PSM regulations, applicable codes (ASME, IIAR), and engineering best practices
- Proficient in project management tools and CAD software
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Preferred Certifications:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- OSHA 30 or PSM/RMP training certification
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools
